Youth Project

Youth Provision at Karmand centre

In partnership with Bradford youth service run open access youth club sessions twice a week at the Karmand centres. The junior (8 – 14-year-old) session runs on a Monday from 06.30 – 08.45 in the evening. The senior session (14+) runs on a Friday 06.30 – 08.45. During both sessions young people have the opportunity to take part in organised activities such football, cricket and badminton. We have also run group work sessions on Health, Education and employment, your rights and responsibilities Young people who attend the youth club sessions have a big say in the activities and sessions we run.
In the past year young people from the youth club have attended area committee meeting with their local councillors. Young people talked about the different activities they have done and the new skills they have learnt.
Young people have also had the opportunity to volunteer at the youth club. This has then enabled us to run summer and holiday activities.

Currently we have a young ambassadors group who meet to discuss what improvements should be made in the local area and what services are available to young people.
Moving up project – Youth workers worked with a group of year 6 students to help them make the transition from primary school to secondary school. We pleased to say all the young people worked with have settled into their new school. They also said that the tips and skills they learnt at moving up helped them.
WE have developed good partnerships with Wicketzs, Primetime, St Clements over the last year as well as a host of other organisations.
If you would like any further information about the activities the Youth service is running in the Bowling and Barkerend ward please contact Onkar Singh at Onkar.singh@bradford.gov.uk
